In the blink of an eye, we’ve already reached the beginning of fall! There is no shortage of fun-filled activities in the East Village community as the year approaches its end. From Bavarian celebrations to top-notch jazz performances and festive holiday markets, explore all of the happenings this energetic neighborhood has to offer.

Oktoberfest

It’s time to dust off the lederhosen and dirndl for this year’s East Village Oktoberfest! Taking place Oct. 5 from 12 to 6 p.m. within Quartyard and Market Street, between 13th and 14th Street, this 21+ event sets itself apart from the usual Oktoberfest. Shining light on the historic German influence on Mexican culture, it makes it a celebration as distinctive as the East Village itself. In true Bavarian style, communal tables will provide generous space for both new and old friends to gather, savoring the delightful cuisine and vibrant atmosphere. Attendees can explore a vast selection of lagers and pilsners from eight local San Diego craft breweries, enjoy German and Mexican cuisine, and experience a world of entertainment.

Hosted by San Diego favorite, SDHosted, this celebration presents the opportunity to join in on fun games, show off your dance moves to lively performances of Polka melodies with a Latin flair, and check out some cool rides at the classic car show! Get your steins ready and round up your friends for this truly unforgettable Oktoberfest experience.

Get groovy at the San Diego Tijuana International Jazz Festival

Prepare for a swinging good time! On Sunday, Oct. 6 from 5 to 9 p.m., Quartyard will host the final day of the inaugural San Diego International Jazz Festival. Celebrating the musical richness of the region, this binational event highlights jazz performers of all kinds in both San Diego and Tijuana. With performances from acclaimed artists like the Binational Youth Ensemble, Surf Fire Soul Ensemble and the Nortec Jazz Experience: Bostich + Fussible and Iván Trujillo Ensamble, this free event is set to bring even more vibrancy to the streets of East Village, honoring the world of jazz musical artistry.

Tribal Streetwear and SDFC Merch collaboration
Exciting news for local SDFC fans! East Village’s Tribal Streetwear has teamed up with San Diego FC for an exclusive merch collaboration, blending the essence of Southern California lifestyle with vibrant streetwear. This first-of-its-kind partnership will offer limited edition gear, perfect for showing your pride for San Diego’s newest soccer team.

Looking Ahead: East Village Tree Lighting and Holiday Market

The East Village Association is excited to kick off the holiday season with the return of the Annual East Village Tree Lighting & Holiday Market on Saturday, Nov. 30, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Quartyard and 13th Street. This festive and family-friendly evening invites the community to enjoy live music, delectable bites and sips, and kid-friendly activities. With a holiday market curated by San Diego Markets, attendees can check off their holiday shopping lists with a delightful array of locally crafted gifts. At 6:45 p.m., join East Village and local officials for the traditional Christmas tree lighting ceremony, and don’t forget to snap a picture with Santa as holiday cheer fills the air. Yule be sorry if you miss out on this magical evening!

Whether you’re donning your lederhosen for Oktoberfest, soaking in the rich rhythms of the San Diego Tijuana International Jazz Festival, or basking in the holiday spirit at the East Village Tree Lighting and Holiday Market, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. These events not only celebrate the diverse cultural tapestry of the East Village but also offer a unique opportunity to connect with friends, neighbors, and new faces. So mark your calendars and get ready to immerse yourself in the festive experiences that this dynamic neighborhood has to offer.
